Kik Interactive, creators of the popular teen messaging app 'Kik' and founders of 'Kin Currency', are in need of a software that promotes internal community between all of their locations. They wanted a way to have all of their team members in all locations (4 office locations) to easily communicate, post internal announcements and blogs, preview internal team hierarchy, and much more. My role on this project began as the secondary designer, and was promoted to the primary. Our UX/UI designer set up this project and laid out 50% of the pages with easy to follow design rules and principles, and passed the project along to me. Excited to finally get to work on a UX/UI project, I dove right in and completed the rest of the program. I soon was invited to all client calls to collaborate on revisions, and was able to speak with the client one on one to talk through challenges and solutions and possible future requests. The final product is currently in development.
PS. Check out their new websites kik.com and kinecosystem.org which I was also involved in the creation of!
M&T Bank is a northeast bank, and a predominant user of RIT students and myself. The current site and user interface is outdated and cluttered, making it difficult to use and navigate through. My hopes in redesigning the site was to make it more approachable without getting rid of info and M&T's capabilities as a bank. Online banking with an easy to user interface is in high demand, so I wanted to give M&T a look and feel to keep up with the changing times,
This is what the site currently looks like.
Because of lack of care and the rise of the Internet, guidebooks have become obsolete, tacky, and unappealing to users. On the other hand, Portland, Maine is an up and coming city that most people do not know about. Thus, using my design skills, I would like to make an app and guidebook all about the cool things to do in Portland, Maine!
The objective of the app and guidebook is to bring awareness to travelers about how cool Portland is in a new, modern, and fun way. I feel as though my Capstone project could change the negative and old fashion connotation that guidebooks have by giving them a fresh look.
I designed an app and guidebook all about Portland, Maine, highlighting it’s history, restaurants, and things to see and do. The app also has a game aspect that allows the user to win coupons to local favorites. The guidebook and app rely heavily on pictures to reflect the ‘hipster’ and ‘granola’ vibe of Portland, Maine. I also created a brand to showcase the app and guidebook called Rudder’s Guide. In my opinion, having paper and digital media will reach a larger audience.

An app I designed that educates campus communities about recycling while getting them involved at the same time. Aimed at RIT, this prototype tracks individual recyclable purchases and monitors if they are recycled or not. Users are encouraged to return their recyclables to a specific scanning machine in order to get credit toward tangible and intangible incentives. Also, the app includes tips and info about what you can and can’t recycle at campus dining locations with specific examples.

Trofi: A greek upscale fast food chain with a new way of eating a gyro. My partner and I designed a new cup/container to improve the experience of eating a gyro on the go and saving it for later if there were leftovers. The container has unique perforated edges to allow to you easily peel away the paper as you are eating your gyro. If you are full but still have gyro left, quickly and easily fold over the back of the container and take it home! Also, our container sits nicely into a cup holder if you are eating your gyro in the car on the go. Our package is eco friendly because it is used in every step of the eating process.

Cars: This project was created as an entry for the 2015 Paperboard Packaging Alliance Student Design Challenge. Click here for more information on the competition rules and regulations. Partnered with 2 students from the Packaging Science department at RIT and one other Graphic Designer, we had a limited time to create a brand new interactive package for a toy from a children's movie. Our design concept was to create a package that doubled as a car garage for the toy to be housed in. The four goals we had for our package were to make it mobile, interactive, customizable and sustainable (with 0 parts of the package thrown away after purchasing).

When you scan the QR, an instructional video about how to use the box will be shown.
RIT is an ever changing campus that is always updating and growing.. with expansion, comes along with growing pains. Over the years, with the addition of new buildings and areas, the signage has become inconsistent. For this project, I redid the entire RIT signage from an outside location, to a specific inside location. Every single sign that one would pass from off campus to the destination was redone.
